Nutrients for Healthy Skin

We have all heard the saying how we need to take better care of our skin. How can we improve the health and appearance of our skin and protect against sun damage as well? The answer is in the power of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients to give skin a more radiant, healthy, and youthful glow. Our diet plays a major role in this process. If you eat an imbalanced diet with a lot of greasy foods and a high sugar intake, you may be prone to more acne problems and uneven skin tone. Including more fruits and vegetables in your diet, lowering the fat intake, drinking enough water, and taking vitamins and minerals can help improve your skin immensely. Vitamin A -provides protection from the damaging rays of sunshine and is good for maintenance and repair of skin tissue. Fruits and vegetables are loaded with this nutrient, especially carrots.

Vitamin C -is considered an antioxidant, which fights against free radicals produced in the body. Free radicals are formed from regular metabolic processes, sunlight, smoke, and pollution in the environment. Vitamin E -also known as an antioxidant may help reduce the harmful effects of the sun on skin. According to studies, taking 400 units of vitamin E daily appeared to reduce the risk of sun damage to cells as well as reduce the production of cancer-causing cells. B Vitamins -biotin is one of the most important B vitamins for the health of the skin. It forms the basis of skin, nails, and hair.
